Our School
Welcome to the Ditton Lodge website.
Our main focus at Ditton Lodge is to make learning fun and ensure that all pupils feel a sense of achievement so that they go on to reach their full potential. The “whole” child is seen to be of great importance to us and we endeavour to provide stimulating lessons and broad pastoral care for all pupils. We work on the belief that when children are happy, feel settled and are enjoying themselves, then learning will take place.
At Ditton Lodge we see ourselves as a community where each person plays an important part. We have very experienced, dedicated staff who know the children well and use their skills to develop each child. We believe in the most recent Government initiative “Every Child Matters” and make it our job to see that every child can access a broad and balanced curriculum.
Ditton Lodge staff offer extra-curricular activities to pupils through a range of after school clubs which are provided at various times of the school year. Where possible we supplement these clubs with other activities using external providers who supply coaches/tutors for a fee. Our hope is that all pupils will feel that there are opportunities for them to develop extra skills in areas outside the direct school curriculum.
Our whole school ethos is built around caring for each other. Our oldest pupils train to be playground mentors in order to offer support and encouragement to younger children whilst out playing. Occasionally, classes “buddy” for some aspects of learning with older pupils sharing books with younger pupils, including books which they themselves have specifically written for this initiative.
I hope that reading this will give you a flavour of our school. Don’t rely wholly on this text though. Come to visit the school and meet us all, see for yourself how Ditton Lodge pupils work, play and learn together.
We look forward to meeting you and your children.
